SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM
The summer associate program has been one of our primary means of recruiting permanent associates. We typically hire one or two second-year law students through the program. During their stay with us, summer associates are encouraged to participate in all aspects of our practice and to work with different attorneys. Summer associates can also cultivate their interests in specific areas of the law.
A mentor oversees all aspects of the summer associate’s work experience. Summer associates can expect significant research and writing assignments. When possible, they will observe hearings, trials, closings and client meetings. Our goal is to provide a valuable and enjoyable learning experience. In past summers, we’ve arranged sunset cruises, lobster bakes and golf and bowling outings.
ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS
We interview candidates for the summer program between September and early November. Members of our hiring committee travel to select law schools in the eastern United States. If we do not visit your school, we advise you to contact us to set up an interview in our Auburn office. Please send your resume and a cover letter expressing your interest in the Skelton, Taintor & Abbott Summer Associate Program to James E. Belleau, Skelton, Taintor, and Abbott, P.O.
