Norm represents buyers, sellers and lenders in commercial and residential real estate transactions. He also handles title insurance matters, commercial loan documentation, foreclosures and workout transactions.
His business practice is focused on representing business entities and on drafting partnership agreements, limited liability company agreements and agreements for the organization of corporations.
Norm’s municipal practice primarily involves representation of landowners and municipalities in land use, zoning and similar matters, including eminent domain proceedings.
Norm believes in working hard, thoroughly and efficiently for his clients. He has established a reputation for outstanding, economic performance and for his collegial relations with clients, colleagues and peers.
He has been invited to speak on various legal issues at seminars and courses held by the Maine State Bar Association, the Androscoggin County Bar Association, the Maine Association of Community Banks, the Maine County Commissioners Association and continuing legal education groups.
Norm is a member of the Maine State Bar Association’s Real Estate, Corporations and Financial Institutions Sections. He served on the Maine State Bar Association subcommittees that drafted the Maine Revised Uniform Limited Partnership Act, the Maine Limited Liability Company Act, Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and Revised Maine Business Corporations Act.
He is admitted to practice in all of Maine’s state and federal courts as well as the state courts of Vermont.
In addition to his legal practice, Norm has been the corporator of the Auburn Boys and Girls Club since 1995, and he formerly served on the Club’s board of directors. He also has acted as the corporator of the Androscoggin Savings Bank since 1994.
He was a member of the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Club from 1991-1995 and the president of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston from 2003-2004. He currently is a member of the church’s parish council.
He also served as the chair of the Town of Brunswick’s Zoning Board of Appeals from 1991-2004 and as a member of the town’s comprehensive plan committee from 1989-1991.
Norm, who speaks fluent Spanish, earned his undergraduate degree in French, cum laude, from Colby College in 1974 and his master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College in 1976. He graduated from the University of Maine School of Law in 1982.
