Commitment to Community

In keeping with its heritage of civic leadership, Skelton, Taintor & Abbott is committed to community service. Both as a firm, and as individuals, we contribute time, energy and resources in support of charitable causes and community activities. We consider this involvement a responsibility as well as a privilege and welcome the opportunity to thank the community for what it has meant to us over the years.

MAINEiacs Sponsorship
Each year Skelton, Taintor & Abbott sponsors a MAINEiacs game, a great opportunity to support our community’s strong hockey tradition.

March of Dimes
The firm dedicates the month of April each year to fundraising efforts to support the March of Dimes campaign for premature babies.  The fundraising efforts, led by Attorney Darcie Beaudin, include a dessert auction, weekly lunches prepared by various staff members and attorneys, snack sales, and casual Fridays.  The month's fundraising efforts culminate in the firm's participation in the Lewiston-Auburn WalkAmerica.  A group of staff members, attorneys, and their families solicit sponsors and walk the 5 mile route around Lewiston-Auburn.  Darcie also participates on a local volunteer committee that plans the Lewiston-Auburn walk.

STA Cup and Scholarship
In 2003, Skelton, Taintor & Abbott established the STA Cup which is presented annually to the Twin Cities Hockey Championship Team. The trophy is awarded to the high school hockey team in Lewiston-Auburn with the best overall record in league games. In addition, we present a senior member of the winning team with a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship rewards hockey excellence, academic achievement, financial need and sportsmanship.

Youth Enrichment Program
As supporters of the Lewiston Housing Authority Youth Enrichment Program, we purchase and display artwork from students who live in local public housing. The program builds self-esteem through the process of learning, performing and exhibiting.

Turner 5k Woods Run
Starting in 2002, Skelton, Taintor & Abbott initiated and became the sole sponsor of the 4th of July Turner 5k Woods run.  This is an off-road 5k race run.  The proceeds from the race benefit Leavitt Area High School track and field programs.  Attorney Steve Wade heads up the event.
